Welcome to Shaw University!

Shaw University, founded in 1865, is the first historically black college of the South. Shaw is a private, co-educational, liberal arts university affiliated with the Baptist Church. The University awards degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Local High School Renames Building in Honor of Shaw University  
building dedication  January 30, 2012 – Many high school educators are seeking innovative solutions when it comes to college recruitment. Dr. Marvin Bradley, principal of Northwest Halifax High School, decided to revamp the traditional ways of encouraging his high school students to plan for their futures by renaming one of the buildings on his campus in honor of Shaw University. (Read More)
