Conference Overview & Agenda

This year’s leadership conference offers 9 great workshops which have been designed to provide basic leadership principles for the entire church. Participants will be able to share in at least two workshops of their choice, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Pastors are encouraged to bring/send at least 5 participants in order to benefit from all of the workshops.  For every 5 paid participants, you are able to bring 2 more, free.  Certificates of participation will be given at the end of each workshop.

This workshop will focus on the use of technology in teaching bible study and preparing clerical and administrative helps.   

 

Writing Your Church History                                                                           Dr. James Arthur Holmes

This workshop focuses on the gathering of historical church documents and the task of developing and writing your church history.

 

Pastoral Care/Counseling in the Local Church                                             Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes

This workshop will offer some tips on Christian counseling in the local church.

 

The Importance of a Transparent Budget                                                       Mr. Douglas Edwards

This is a workshop focusing on the financial matters  of the church.

 

Reclaiming Black Boys by Developing Effective Male Mentoring Programs                   Dr. Jerry Corbett

This workshop offers suggestions on how the black church can use men, its most vital resource, to counter many of the negative stereotypes that currently plague black boys.

Church Polity and Practices                                                                              Dr. James T. Roberson, Jr.

This workshop is about shared church governance-to include parliamentary procedures.    

            

 The Purpose of the Music Ministry                                                                 Dr. Yvonne Guyton

This workshop focuses on appropriate selections of music for Christian worship.

 

A Christian Education Curriculum for the Local Church                         Dr. Bruce Grady

This workshop will provide information on identifying the need of the church as well as new members and other training programs.
