  1. Improvement of academic instruction and curriculum;
  2. Enhancement of activities and services designed to improve student life, including life-long learning opportunities;
  3. Growth of student enrollment, retention, and diversity;
  4. Incorporation of information technology into the Shaw University Divinity School instruction/learning process;
  5. Maintenance of an integrated system of planning, management, and evaluation to ensure institutional effectiveness;
  6. Provision of a learning environment where students can develop a global perspective;
  7. Provision of a collaborative academic environment where faculty can contribute significantly to the corpus of data on the "practice of ministry" in the African American church.
  8. Development of a research institute in the practice of ministry to include a doctor of ministry degree and a doctor of philosophy degree in church history and a doctor of philosophy in ethics.
