We are proud to enter our 2nd
year of Shaw University
Divinity's School Alexander/Pegues
Minister's Conference sponsoring
the Gardner C. Taylor
Distinguished Preaching Series.
This
year we
will be exploring the concept of "Prophetic Preaching." To
explore this concept, we
will open on Monday Night at 7 p.m.
with the Dean of African American Preaching, the Rev. Dr. Gardner C.
Taylor.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we will have preachers speaking
to specific issues each day. On Tuesday, the preachers will
speak to world issues. The lineup includes Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright,
Rev. Dr. Linda Bryan, and Rev. Dr. Charles Booth. On Wednesday, the
preachers will speak to domestic issues. The lineup includes
Rev. Dr. William Curtis, Rev. Dr. Joel Gregory, and Rev. Dr. James
Forbes. Then on Thursday, the preachers will speak to local issues.
Thursday's lineup includes Rev. Dr. Kevin Cosby, Rev. Jasmin
Sculark, and Rev. Dr. Claude Alexander. The Conference will also
feature preaching workshops on each of these days. In addition,
there will be a musical on Thursday evening.
Friday Morning we will have a
Prayer Breakfast with a panel discussion focusing on world,
national, and local issues.
Following the Prayer Breakfast will be an Ecumenical Holy Communion
celebrating the Supreme Act of God’s Love in high pageantry. Rev.
Dr. Gary Simpson will deliver the Communion Message.
This year's conference again promises to be filled with excellent preaching.
