Shaw University Durham Alumni Chapter Gives Back to Alma Mater
Raleigh, NC -- (February 18, 2005) -- Shaw University
Durham Alumni Chapter president, Ms. Cindy Brooks-Parks presents a
check in the amount of $6 thousand to: (r. to l.)President Clarence
Newsome; executive vice president Mr. Martel Perry, assistant vice
president for academic affairs Dr. Terence Leathers; director of
alumni relations and planned giving Ms. Reekitta Grimes; acting vice
president for academic affairs Dr. Herman Thomas, and special
assistant to the president, Dr. Claud Flythe.
The Shaw University family thanks the Durham Alumni Chapter for its
thoughtfulness, generosity, and caring spirit to ensure the
vitality, and posterity of alma mater.
Shaw University, founded in 1865, is the oldest historically Black institution in the South. Since 2003, the University has been under the leadership of Dr. Clarence G. Newsome. President Newsome’s leadership pursues the theme: “Strides to Excellence: Only the Best!”
