Shaw University’s Broadband Channel Off to
Successful Launch
Raleigh, NC – (September 19, 2007) The Shaw Bears Broadband
Channel successfully launched the initial webcast on Saturday,
September 15th during the inaugural home football game at Durham
County Memorial Stadium. Powered through JarvisTV and VBrick, the
station can be accessed via the Internet through a link on the
University’s home page or click on http://www.jarvistv.com/shaw/.
The webcast covered live broadcast all of the Pre-Game activities
that began at noon through the completion of the game. Live
broadcast of all home games and other University events will become
standard practice including Commencement and other activities.
The initial broadcast of the game resulted in 684 viewers from 19
states around the country, 4 from the Dominican Republic and one
viewer from Turkey. In addition to the 6,582 people in attendance at
the home game, this allowed more than 7,000 to witness the historic
game and webcast.
Shaw University is the first HBCU to own its own broadband channel
with JarvisTV. This is an amazing coupe as the leadership continues
to thrust the University into the ranks among other world-class
institutions. Congratulations to Shaw University!
