Hudson Belk of Garner Hosts Shaw University at Its Store
New Community Partner Honors Graduating Seniors

Raleigh, NC – (May 7, 2007) The Athletic Community Relations Program is excited to announce Hudson Belk of Garner as a new community partner to Shaw University Athletics. In the exciting spirit of community and academic excellence, Hudson Belk of Garner hosted the Shaw University Family for Belk Senior Appreciation Night held at the store located at 1450 Garner Station Boulevard in Garner, NC to honor graduating seniors.

Students, student-athletes and staff from the University attended the event for fun, food and shopping! In a live remote, WSHA 88.9 FM, the Triangle’s Number One Jazz Station, played fantastic jazz music at the event. Doug Johnson, Store Manager, stated, “We are so pleased that everyone from Shaw came out and had a good time. We are so glad that you are here and we are excited about future opportunities.” Martel Perry, Executive Vice President of Shaw University stated, “This is a great opportunity for Shaw University and Hudson Belk of Garner, our new community partner. We welcome their commitment to academic and athletic excellence. Our seniors have worked hard and it is wonderful to know that members of the community also appreciate their accomplishments.”

Makeovers were given by consultants from Fashion Fair and Clinique and the store provided fantastic gift giveaways. They also provided food for the festive occasion. This was an outstanding exchange for Belk and Shaw University and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The staff from Hudson Belk of Garner was kind and very attentive to the students; they felt very special. It was great to have the store opened to the Shaw University Family from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
