Technology-Ready Instructional Facility
and Video Conferencing and Distance Learning Center

Shaw University's Technology-Ready Instructional Facility located
on the fourth floor of the Roberts Science Building, includes a
classroom capacity for thirty (30)
workstations, audio-visual preparation room, and a control room.
Presently this facility houses six multimedia computers capable
of performing video conferencing and distance learning activities.
This facility is networked and is connected to the Shaw University
WAN.
Overall, this facility is to provide for production of an in-house
assortment of original programming; and for the dissemination and
receipt of information to and from sites external to Shaw University.
More specifically, the facility provides for interactive learning,
multimedia development and presentation. Expanded services will
include distance learning through telecourses and video conferencing.

This computer
Lab is networked and is connected to the Shaw University WAN. The
purpose of this lab is to increase the performance of students on
national examinations, especially the PRAXIS series tests, which
are the national examinations required by many states, including
North Carolina, for a teacher's license. Traditional and non-traditional
students find the lab extremely useful. The lab provides programmed
instructions for developing reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
