Air Force ROTC Program

Shaw students are eligible to participate in Air Force ROTC! The Air Force ROTC curriculum is currently only offered to Shaw students through the Cooperating Raleigh Colleges (CRC) agreement. This agreement simply allows Cooperating Raleigh Colleges (Meredith, Peace and Saint Augustine's Colleges, NC State and Shaw Universities) to form a consortium through which they provide, ordinarily without extra tuition cost, their collective educational resources to students at each of the five institutions.

Under this agreement Shaw students may take courses at any of the other five campuses. These courses are available for general enrichment and used to strengthen particular majors, to enhance career training, and to earn an additional minor, major, or degree.

SHAW STUDENTS interested in Air Force ROTC are eligible to enroll at NC State University's Air Force ROTC program through the Cooperating Raleigh Colleges consortium. This program is offered through Air Force ROTC Detachment 595 located in Reynolds Coliseum, Room 133. This program provides students an opportunity to learn about the Air Force and how to become an effective leader in military or civilian life.

Air Force ROTC provides students an opportunity to earn a commission as a second lieutenant while completing a degree like any other "normal" college student.

Individual Aerospace Studies courses may be taken without incurring any type of military commitment and the entire two-year basic course may be taken without obligation. Normally, no military commitment is established until completion of the two-year basic course, unless, you accept an Air Force ROTC Scholarship before completion of the two-year basic course. Completion of the advanced course work does require accepting a commission.

Scholarships are offered through Air Force ROTC. You must meet or exceed all eligibility requirements. Air Force ROTC scholarships are merit based and include a textbook allowance and a nontaxable monthly stipend.

To register for Air Force ROTC please see your registrar's office and follow all Cooperating Raleigh Colleges guidelines.
