Established in August 2017, the Office of Student Retention was created with the student in mind. Our primary focus is to assists students with a successful transition to the college environment. The retention staff is here to ensure that students are
informed, engaged, and involved in their educational journey. Our office helps students prepare for a successful semester, year and career by building on their strengths and providing resources to improve areas of weakness.
Remember, the first year of college is what you make it; it is the beginning of the collegiate experience and the path to future success. The Office of Student Retention is happy to help students navigate through this experience. Students are encouraged
to utilize all of campus resources, including our office.
First-year students will be personally introduced to campus support services and resources so that you know where to go to get the most out of your college experience. Services are available when you need them. The Shaw community is there for
you as you meet new opportunities on your way to your future.
The second year at Shaw University is an exciting time of reflection, growth, and continued engagement for students. Second-year students will build upon their personal, academic, and career foundations established during their first year of college.
Fundamental to this process is the opportunity to participate in academic and finance workshops, social events, career fairs, volunteer in the community, receive career advisement, and the opportunity to study abroad.
